Kayla Morgan is the reigning Miss Delaware Earth USA 2020. Morgan was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art, graduating magna cum laude in 2017. Since then, Morgan had worked as a visual artist, art administrator, and teacher. Morgan knows that the arts possess a transformative power that promotes positive change in communities. As an artist, her goal is to create work that connects with audiences to inspire collective activism. As a lifelong learner, she plans to obtain multiple masters degrees to further this practice. As an arts educator and administrator, Morgan work to teach and mentor other creative individuals and organizations to realize their own potential and the impact one person can have on our Earth.
Other achievements include being accepted into the Urban Arts Leadership Fellowship Cohort ’19; making the dean’s list consistently; being inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society; receiving the Humanitarian Award at Miss Maryland USA 2020 (where Morgan also placed in the top 15); being elected as President of her school’s National Art Honor Society; founding and organizing youth art classes in her local community; and being honored as the Valedictorian at her Academy of Finance Graduation.
Morgan hopes to, “have the ability to work with and lead a group of like-minded women activists in community projects; to educate and inspire youth about environmentalism; and to leverage my title to form new and even unexpected partnerships by connecting with underserved and marginalized populations of people to ensure that everyone is able to experience the transformative power that both advocacy and pageantry possess.” Morgan will be vying for the title of Miss Earth USA this August 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
